What happens when the daughter of Briar University s hockey coach starts fake dating the captain of their arch rivals Harvard Jake Connelly is 100% focused on hockey, as captain of Harvard s hockey team its his job to make sure that his team are just as focused and he has to put a stop to the friends with benefits thing that his teammate Josh McCarthy has going on with Brenna Jensen, its messing with McCarthy s head and Jake knows Brenna isn t interested.Brenna isn t interested in dating, she s all about the hook up and move on, she s not going to give her heart to anyone She doesn t even care about McCarthy but when Jake tells her to back off her hackles rise The two of them have that insane hate chemistry where they could easily kill each other or rip each other s clothes off possibly both Then Brenna goes for an intern position at a local hockey network and the misogynist interviewing her is totally disinterested and dismissive until he starts talking about Jake who has been drafted to play for his team, the Oilers, at the start of the next season Hating herself Jenna tells the creep that she and Jake are dating.Jake doesn t mind going to dinner at this guy s house and pretending to be Brenna s boyfriend, the only catch For every fake date he wants a real one But with the hatred between their rival hockey teams and their coaches growing exponentially is it all going to blow up in their faces I liked this, heck I d read the back of a cereal packet if Elle Kennedy wrote it, but I didn t love it I guessed what Brenna had done to upset her father quite early on downside of being old and having read a ton of books and Jake was too cocky for me, verging on the bossing Brenna around and telling her what to do and what she thought Yet, Jake was also pretty self aware and caring go figure, he was complicated. These gripes are because I love Elle Kennedy, don t let them detract from the fact that I devoured the book in a single day and enjoyed every second of it I just want to see Jake s legendary abs

Elle Kennedy is the queen of sports romance and she nailed it again with The Risk With swoon worthy and lovable hockey players, the romance in this book was just perfect There was also enough hockey without it overshadowing the main plot There was just so much to this book and I loved every second if it.The second I saw the fiery chemistry between Jake and Brenna in The Chase I just knew Elle Kennedy was going to rock our world and give us their story And, wow, did she ever deliver Jake and Brenna had chemistry in spades not to mention sizzling hot These two set the pages on fire What I loved, aside from the attraction they had is the humor and the banter between them Banter is where Elle Kennedy truly shines And in The Risk, she outdid herself This is Elle in her absolute element The dialogue between Brenna and Jake was simply delicious I found myself laughing out loud at their repartee It s cute, funny and witty But the wits and humour is not confined between Jake and Brenna but to the side characters as well Elle Kennedy manages to give every secondary characters personalities that makes you want to know about them Every character interaction served to further the plot and the main characters development.I simply love how rock solid and enjoyable Elle Kennedy s books are You just can open one and just lose yourself in her stories It s just awesome The Risk is no exception to this I see myself re reading this story over and over again and loving it just like the first time. The Risk is the perfect package of feel good The story is compelling and gripping, the romance is swoony and fun, and the writing hooked me in immediately and held me captive from the first page until the very last, and made me smile and laugh like a loon throughout This was sports romance perfection.

Jake is hilarious, I loved his character and he was so passionate about Ice Hockey and be there for his team When he was laying the law down and basically telling them that they had to concentrate and give it up on a few habits, for one of the team it included Brenna So that was just funny, he was a real great listener and really sweet and I actually loved him.Brenna is hot sexy and dangerous, that was one of my thoughts in the Chase and it still applies in her book Although we saw of the side of her being funny in this book Although she is a dangerous girl the way she can seduce and manipulate the Harvard team when she was proving a point to Jake was hilarious.I loved the fake dating in this book, the bargain is for every fake date Brenna must give Jake a real date I was kind of disappointed with this, there was only one fake date I felt if Elle Kennedy was going to bring this kind of trope in she should have stuck with it for a little bit longer She could have expanded way on this trope and got to play around with Brenna and Jake a little rather than just bringing it in once and never seen again Especially as it is in the description of the book so I just hoped for a little fake dating.Although the real dating that was so cute and I loved the little bowling date they went on Jake and Brenna are cute I loved their relationship and how they were as a couple especially as Brenna tries to push him away so much until she can t deny it I loved how they connected and how much they seemed to get under each other skin I loved their relationship.I love this Hollis and Rupi couple it was so unexpected and yet it was hilarious When Summer and Brenna gave Rupi Hollis number and I did not expect it to go how it did I love them as a couple and they were hilarious. The Harvard team had their moments, it was hilarious especially when it came to the bubble butt business I think that s one of my favourite moments in this book and it was so amusing.I really didn t like Hazel I could tell from the moment she appeared in this book she had a thing for Jake and when she almost doesn t give the bracelet back you ll understand when you read it I was like you horrible person I m glad that Jake is nice to forgive her.Brenna s story broke my heart, I don t want to say too much about it because you should read it But it broke my heart when she was telling Jake what had happened and why her dad was sometimes so untrusting of her I also think it shows what kind of person she is because when Eric called her she still went and helped him And if I was her I wouldn t have but she is such a kind person especially after EVERYTHING again will make sense when you ve read this.So Brenna and her dad was a really accurate portrayal of dad and daughter relationship at least for me, it was very real You know her dad was worried and wanted to protect her and at times they clashed really bad I think when it came to a certain scene in this book when Brenna finally confronts her dad about what happened in her past there is a real turning point The conversation with her dad killed me I was sobbing like a little baby and it really hit me hard that did But yes I could totally relate to Brenna and her dad s relationship I also love by the end her dad is totally supportive of her and Jake and I loved it.I loved seeing all the other characters in this book, so many times during this book it made me laugh out loud and I think one of my very memorable moments is when Brenna tells her dad she s going out with Summer and he s like well Dean said she set fire to her school and is crazy It really made me chuckle So much in this book was just quite funny despite having it s really serious bits in the book it was a perfect balance. This story for me was perfect and I loved the characters, the story and just everything about it I will say I don t think this one tops The Score but it s close.

Boy does Elle Kennedy know how to satisfy me cough , in a literal sense The characters, storylines, genres and tropes that she develops just tick all of my bookish sensibilities. The Risk centres around Jake Connelly, the Harvard hockey captain, and his love interest, Brenna Jenson who happens to be the daughter of Briar University hockey team coach and also Jake s team s closest rivals I was intrigued as to how Elle Kennedy would play match maker with these two conflicting characters and the idea of a fake relationship was perfect.Brenna is desperate to secure a journalism internship at a sports media company and when her application to Hockeynet starts to turn sour, thanks to a misogynistic executive, she comes to realise that Jake may be her ticket in.Jake and Brenna have been skirting around their attractions to each other Their sexual banter and verbal dualling is part of what makes this story a real hit, but despite this, they know any sort of a relationship would be a nightmare for their respective teams in the run up to one of their biggest games That said, the they come together, the the sparks fly Brenna is a huge tease but knows how to back up her game, and Jake, despite his best intentions, falls for her wily ways.As expected, there are also cameo appearances from the side characters that we have come to love, including a strange turn of events for Mike Hollis I really didn t see that story coming This is a loveable story, with some of the best characters, but despite this, there is a sadness to the story from Brenna s perspective Her relationship with her father is frayed, her past continues to haunt her and yet when she needs help Jake is there I have to admit to having shed a tear or two at Brenna s story and also how her relationship with her father broke down. The Risk is a spellbinding read and I can t wait to read from Briar U and the author.

Having now read my second Elle Kennedy book I feel pretty happy to say that I really love her as an author This was just as much fun as The Chase and I found myself rooting for Brenna and Jake just as much as if not than I was for Summer and Fitz, and just the same as with The Chase I read The Risk in one sitting.I really like how these books don t just focus wholly on the romance, there s other things going on that work to really develop the characters and make them 3D Needless to say, the romance itself is also amazing.

Some book series become so predictable and boring, it s like the same story like just different names Well not Elle Kennedy First off you need to read all the previous ones in her series before this one don t worry they are all amazing The risk really surprised me though This book pulls you in so quickly and I honestly was surprised, laughed and cried and when I closed the book I was like omg This needs a review people need to read this book it was so good

I adore Elles writing The characters always have depth are relatable and have a great sense of humour Elle easily weaves current topics such as women in sports broadcasting into her romance novels I adore the scene where they are getting hot in the car and when Brenna loses the mood Jake just backs off No wining Because that s the only way Period Awesome literal role modelling Elle All thumbs up You can expect awesome hockey, fun banter, the best side characters hoping for many stories to follow , relevant topics, just the right amount of drama and darkness to give the characters depth without getting angsty and some hot hot hot sex scenes laced with humour I have pre ordered this book and I will pre order the next one as well Can t go wrong with Elle

Honestly I couldn t put it down, it is amazing and gripping and Ellen Kennedy is a genius This book faces real life, serious topics that you wouldn t neccisarily be aware of or empathise with and is so gripping Yet these things don t define the book as its about the relationship and the journey I dare you to read this and not want an ice hockey player for yourself

This was a pretty good story I especially enjoyed the bubble butt scene I found that very amusing and chuckled to myself a few times during that I didn t like the secondary character of Rupi I found her personality annoying and am glad she didn t have a major part in the story the next story in the series due out in October is called The Play which I assume is about Hunter and some lucky lady.

Who would have thought that Jake Connolly would be a total touchy feely, sweet, romantic type Brenna and Jake had great chemistry and I didn t want to put this book down There were some laugh out loud moments as you d expect from Elle Kennedy and a riveting, sexy, sweet and romantic story that kept my attention til the last page.

Great story this is a kind of forbidden romance because Brenna is the daughter of the Briar Hockey Team s coach Jake is the Captain of their arch rivals, Harvard Some drama but they are both pretty cool characters so the angst isn t too high.HEA More HFNCheating No
