This book is brilliant, it brings myth and legend and real life all together Mila is a poor human who gets hassle from her father every day, she dreams of escape but finds that escape is subjective It might be away from home, but the Grim Reaper Academy is not the place to be human. The other students seem to despise her and make life difficult, hoping she will either leave or get kicked out.She attracts the attention of two of the sexiest makes students and things begin to change. Then she heard the truth of her birth and the reason for being at the Academy and life s problems have just intensified. This book is a must read for anyone who loves myths and life or death situations, mixed in with a bit of romance.I couldn t put it down once I started readibg.

Spoilers Alert Mila is just an average teen Her home life sucks and her parents work her hard in their restaurant but she hopes for something better Things change on her 18th birthday though when the arrival of a mysterious envelope and from then on her life takes a dramatic change She receives an invitation to the Grim Reaper Academy Whats surprising is that she has no idea why shes been invited in the first place especially being a human Not their regular student So that makes a target for not only the whole academy but also Sariel, Paz, GC and Francis All of which dont want her there Which makes for some vicious situations some even life threatening I love Mila s strength and wit She doesnt back down even when the whole academy except a few have it in for her I read through this book so quickly because i couldnt put it down Really good

It s going to be one of those days Mila was cleaning the disgusting toilets in her family s restaurant that s what her father is making her do this summer to pay him back for food, rent and for just living, her father hated her and she didn t even know why The next day it was Mila s 18th birthday and she didn t have to go and scrub dirty toilets today her mother said that she will give Mila some money for her birthday but then her father said no he looked at her with hate in his eyes so Mila grabbed a knife and tried to cut a tomato but she was angry so it went everywhere so Mila s mother said that she will do it then Mila walked outside to check the mail before she said something nasty to her father Mila brought in the mail and there was a letter for her it s the first time that she has ever gotten a letter but it was no ordinary letter it had red and gold runes and three words Grim Reaper Academy Mila thought that this was a joke the letter says today you have reached womanhood and we are honoured to invite you to apply to the prestigious Grim Reaper Academy and they have made a special exception by inviting a mere human, ohh gee thanks for letting me know that I m a boring human Mila always thought that she didn t belong there that she was from another planet or dimension and that they accidentally left her behind so she believes that she isn t special Her father got up grabbed her letter and ripped it up into pieces right in front of her and he told Mila to go to her room so she did but when she threw herself on her bed and put her hands under her pillow she felt something and pulled it out, it was the letter that her father had ripped up what s going on what kind of magic is this and is it actually true that she is different well Mila was going to have to run away to the school because her father wouldn t let her That s all I m going to give you guys but this is just the beginning of an amazing story it s a 5 plus read and I highly recommend this book it s definitely well worth the read.I received a copy of this book from Booksprout and I also bought a copy.

This is the first book by Cara Wylde I have read and i really enjoyed this book and im totally looking forward to reading book 2.In this first installment we meet Mila Lazarov, the first human chosen to enroll at Grim Reaper Academy There, she will compete with supernaturals for a spot to be one of the only 22 grim reapers in the world. This book was a wonderful intro into the Grim Reaper world Cara Wylde introduces us to false gods, demons, archangels, mages, succubus All competing to become Grim reapers wich is one of my favorite character followed closely by demons so win win for me.At the beginning i found some Harry Potter vibes when Mila enters the dining hall of the academy and the way each students is sorted by what kind of death they will be as Grim Reapers, thought it is the only similarities btw the two.Loved Mila and can t wait to see her thrive in her new role as a Grim Reaper and in the supernatural world Altought i don t know how Sariel can be redeemed for what he did to her, time will tell hope that she will kick his butt and won t forgive too easily By the end of this book Mila has 2 guys by her side and nothing too steamy happens cause she is still questioning if they are with her for her or else. Can t wait to see what will happen next Just pre ordered the next book.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This first book of the series started off great The world building, character building, plot all of it was done well The idea behind a Grim Reaper Academy is unique and creative The conglomerate student body all competing and training to be Grim Reapers was an incredibly unique idea that made the whole concept even better to read Adding the differing supernaturals along with the lone human was fun to read It wouldn t have had the same excitement and intrigue if it was all demons or humans training to be reapers. The characters were all well described and complex and none of them felt as if they overlapped the others or mirrored them too much I could easily decipher the differing personalities and never found myself confused as to which character was which Since I m talking about characters, my one complaint is their names GC and Frances were just weird names I understand the importance behind their names but maybe adding a little twist or just a different nickname other than GC.I loved Mila as a female character She had what seemed to be a good work ethic and morals to her She is a strong and independent woman who doesn t break down easily which is quite the feat considering the horrendous bullying she has had to endure and as a human no less My only complaint about her is her age I understand she is 18 and there were plenty of times where her age showed in her dialogue and mannerisms which I found to be a little annoying but nothing that put me off from the book More like cheesy cringe worthy moments where you think yep, she s definitely a teenager young adult Hopefully the series will show growth and maturity in Mila as it continues throughout her education at the academy. The bullying was pretty horrendous and made my stomach drop a few times but it added some much drama and action to the story and plot I didn t really jump on the bully bandwagon as passionate as others but I ve read a few and this may be one of the series that has the most intense and frequent bullying out of all that I have read Please keep that in mind if the bully genre is not something you can tolerate.I would consider this to be a slow burn with a building or evolving harem By the end of this book, we have potentially 2 men in her harem but she has still maintained her innocence up to this point but the sexual tension is pretty good, yet it doesn t overshadow the plot and story itself.Definitely a great opener for a new series that I highly recommend so far

KU read, but will likely purchase.Well, this is a different take on the Academy trope in terms of the location and premise There is the mean girl, the nasty alphas, and the gay friend though So not completely original in terms of situations but the Grim Reaper concept is pretty different.I loved this year one book and am looking forward to see what happens next.

This was an interesting take on a grim reaper academy I really enjoyed Mila as a heroine She was strong considering being the only human to succeed This is a bullying genre and I typically don t like that but it was mild so I was fine I m interesting to see what happens next I would recommend reading
