I m almost ashamed to admit I ve been a Sharpe Addict since May 1982 when I picked up Eagle and Gold in W H Smith s in Portsmouth prior to an unexpectedly long deployment to the South Atlantic In my humble opinion, against stiff competition, Enemy is the best ever Sharpe novel It s a great story, there are some wonderful characters and some superbly written scenes I re read it every couple of years and it still thrills This audio is probably the best of the many versions out there but it suffers from post Bean syndrome Sharpe isn t supposed to be a Tyke yob.
