The Munitions Girls written by Rosie Archer is the first book in this wonderful series, this is one book I am happy to recommend to other readers of historical fiction especially those based on or around the Second World War.This wonderful series is based in Gosport where three friends Pixie, Emily and of course, the gorgeous Rita are working hard in a munitions factory building bombs to help the war effort These three girls are like family to each other and as we are told each of their stories as a reader you will soon realise their home life is not so perfect yet they stand by each other through thick and thin.Pixie is the main character for me and as she tells her own story, she is one girl I know I would have loved to have in my life as she would do anything for those she cares about She works hard yet she still has time to enjoy herself, and as I followed her story I was soon involved in her life and those friends she cares so much about, but Pixie s mother has her own problems and it is only her that can change her life if she really wants back into the life of her loved ones once again. This is one wonderful book where I enjoyed each page of this great storyline, and for one main reason, the characters were so believable, as their hearts were broken while still trying to stand up to Hitler and his bullies who pounded the South coast with bombs.I am happy to recommend The Munitions Girls written by the very talented Rosie Archer as a brilliant read filled with atmosphere and courage throughout.

Brilliant story but made even better for me as it was based in Gosport where I actually live I didn t know that when I ordered it but when names of roads came up and then where they worked where my auntie worked in her youth it was made even better and interesting to hear of the history.

I was told about the book Canary Girls by a family member who had seen an article about it in the Portsmouth News My father worked at Priddys Hard during and after the war so I was interested to read the book I looked it up online and realised that The Munitions Girls was the first in a series I recognised all the places and roads mentioned which made the story so much interesting.
